About this book

This book not only provides insight on the Naua worldview and the ethical values harbored in local communities, but also a deeper understanding of the religion and culture of Mesoamerica in general. The focus lies on contemporary Naua religion, specifically in the community of Santa Catarina Acaxochitlan, in the states of Hidalgo and Tlaxcala in Mexico. The analysis of the Naua historical and documentary record reveals the relationship, made of conflicts and adaptations, between two distinct visions of the world, the Mesoamerican and the Spanish.

Raúl Macuil Martínez is an historian and was born in Apizaco, Mexico. His research focuses on the history of the Nahua peoples of Tlaxcala.
